Registered under the Indian Companies Act, 1956, the Council for Leather Exports (CLE), which was established in July 1984, functions under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India (GoI).
This autonomous, non-profit organisation with around 2,400 members is entrusted with the responsibility of export promotion and development of the Indian leather industry. Therefore, CLE bridges the gap between Indian leather exporters and consumers worldwide.
